Prepare for the application
- Determine your degree, field, school type, city, and budget.
- Narrow your list after researching schools and checking their accreditation and SEVP approval.
- Note the exams required by schools and the minimum scores; register for exams early.
- Prepare and submit the transcript, recommendations, and essay in the format requested by the school.
- Pay the application fee and submit the form before the deadline.
- Submit scholarship and assistantship applications, especially for graduate study, together with the admission application.
- Choose your school, submit proof of financial sufficiency, and receive the I-20.
- If more than one school sends an I-20, use only the I-20 from the school you will attend.
