Preparation and birth registration
- Assess the conditions for citizenship by birth to a Turkish mother or father and, if necessary, establishing parentage.
- Find the Turkish representative office responsible for the state where the child was born and make an appointment through konsolosluk.gov.tr for an in-person application.
- If the parents' marriage is not registered in Türkiye, complete the marriage registration before registering the birth.
- Prepare and submit the required application form, birth certificate, identity documents, and other documents depending on your circumstances.
- If the child is also a U.S. citizen, submit the multiple citizenship notification together with the birth registration.
Identity card and passport
- Make an appointment and apply for a TCKK with the application form, biometric photograph, and required identity documents.
- After the child's Turkish identity card has been issued, apply for a passport by appointment with the required photograph and consent documents.
- When the identity card and passport are ready, collect the documents in person, through an authorized representative, or by mail using a suitable return envelope.
