Determine the path and documents
- Evaluate which of the three paths is appropriate based on whether your spouse lives in the United States or Türkiye and the spouse’s citizenship status.
- The spouse in the United States files the I-130, attaches the I-130A for the spouse, and correctly selects consular processing.my.uscis.gov(Official site)
- Prepare copies of joint property, lease, account, and child documents, affidavits, and the marriage certificate.
- Attach a full English translation to every document in a foreign language, together with the translator’s certification of accuracy and language proficiency.
Complete consular processing
- After USCIS approval, the case goes to the NVC; the NVC sends fee and document instructions.
- Pay the required fees, complete the DS-260, and upload the I-864 and civil documents.
- Complete the medical examination with the panel physician in Ankara before the interview date given by the NVC.
- Attend the immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara on the date given by the NVC.
- If the visa is issued, pay the $235 USCIS immigrant fee before departing; the green card will not be produced until the fee is paid.
- Do not open the sealed packet; only the immigration officer at the border may open it, and pay attention to the visa validity period.
