A mother who lost her daughter in the US delivered an emotional speech before the Senate Judiciary Committee, backing Attorney General nominee Todd Blanche. 'Angel Mother' Jennifer Bos said she believes Blanche genuinely understands the tragedy of the Angel Families and will work to prevent similar pain in the US.
Bos recounted her private meeting with Blanche at the hearing. "I felt an immediate connection with him," Bos said, adding, "He listened to my story with great attention, and you could see his mind working on what we are going to do about this." Although she knows nothing can be done directly for her daughter Megan, she said she believes Blanche will protect other families.

Megan Bos's death and the suspect
Megan Bos, 37, was found dead 51 days after she went missing in April 2026. Her body was found in a trash container on the property of Mexican national Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, doused in bleach. Mendoza-Gonzalez faces charges of abuse of a corpse, concealing a death, and obstruction of justice. The suspect denied the charges, claiming Megan died of an overdose.
Following the incident, Mendoza-Gonzalez was released after his initial court appearance due to Illinois' sanctuary policies. However, shortly after Jennifer Bos told her story to President Trump, he was rearrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Indiana in July 2026.
Encounter with Senator Durbin
Jennifer Bos, who encountered her home-state senator, Democrat Dick Durbin, at the hearing, did not hide her disappointment. Bos criticized Durbin, saying, "I have been everywhere for the last year and a half, but he never reached out to me." Bos noted that the senator spoke with her after the hearing and expressed hope for future cooperation.
Bos stressed that crimes by illegal immigrants are not a partisan issue. "Angel Families were disturbing truths that were ignored before President Trump took office," Bos said, adding that Republicans and independents have embraced them.
Jennifer Bos concluded her speech with these words: "I couldn't save my daughter. But Todd Blanche as attorney general can save yours. Because next time, it could be your child, your family."
