It is stated that in the US's new cotton plan, Bangladesh is seen as an important market for American cotton and textile inputs. The plan announced last week by the US Department of Agriculture encourages production in Bangladesh using US cotton and textile inputs, providing tariff facilitation for Bangladeshi ready-made garment products. The report also mentions that the bilateral trade agreement signed between Bangladesh and the US on February 9 aims to establish a mechanism allowing certain Bangladeshi textile and ready-made garment products to enter the US with zero mutual tariffs. However, it is noted that the scope of this advantage will depend on Bangladesh's imports of cotton and synthetic fibers from the US.
