Israeli military officials are evaluating a withdrawal from some areas in the south of the country, believing the main attack operations in Lebanon are complete. According to a report by Kan, Israeli military officials hold the view that not all forces stationed in the security belt need to remain there.
In negotiations expected between Lebanese and Israeli delegations in the coming days, transferring responsibility for some southern areas to the Lebanese army will be on the agenda.
The United States is pressuring Israeli occupation forces to return to their positions along the occupied Palestinian border near the so-called "Yellow Line." However, an Israeli official speaking to Kan said the army does not plan to withdraw from that line, but could withdraw from some areas it recently occupied in southern Lebanon within the framework of the current agreement and talks.
This report comes amid an intensified diplomatic process following the June 18 ceasefire agreement between Iran and the US. The agreement requires a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
According to Lebanese health officials, Israel's attacks on Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of more than 4,000 people since March 2.
