US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on the second day of his official visit to India. The discussions covered the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries; numerous areas such as trade, energy, defense, security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, nuclear cooperation, and people-to-people relations were addressed. Rubio stated that US-India relations have not lost momentum and expressed hope that a permanent trade agreement that considers the national interests of both sides will soon be signed between the two countries. This visit comes after some economic and diplomatic challenges between the US and India. Rubio is also in India to attend the meeting of the Quad, the Indo-Pacific strategic alliance of which India, Australia, and Japan are members. Foreign Minister Jaishankar emphasized India's five-point stance on global issues during the talks, including dialogue, uninterrupted maritime trade, and strategic partnerships.
