Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that an "important" message from Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be delivered to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
Naqvi expressed hope that this message would yield results during his visit to Tehran and that the process would conclude positively.
Tehran Contacts Gain Momentum
The Pakistani minister was in Iran's capital to hold talks with senior officials. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was also involved in the discussions.
Islamabad's engagements are part of mediation efforts to resolve the dispute between Iran and the United States.
According to Pakistani sources, Naqvi's agenda included new proposals aimed at overcoming the deadlock between the two sides. These proposals reportedly seek to establish a temporary consensus.
Frozen Assets and Agreement Topics
The talks prominently featured Iran's frozen assets, estimated at around 24 billion dollars. This issue was identified as a critical element in the search for a possible interim agreement.
Tehran reportedly links any ceasefire arrangement to the cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon. On the other hand, Washington is said to have requested changes in the draft text concerning the Strait of Hormuz and the fate of Iran's highly enriched uranium, which has delayed the final agreement.
Follow-up Meetings in Bishkek
It was also reported that Naqvi met twice with Iran's Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Bishkek during recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization meetings. These talks covered bilateral relations, security coordination, and regional issues.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that negotiations with Iran are "going very well" and suggested that an agreement could be reached within days.
