Russian President Vladimir Putin said he believes international conflicts around the world are highly likely to continue in the coming years.
Putin made the assessment on Thursday at a Valdai Discussion Club meeting in Moscow. Saying that he very much wanted to be mistaken, Putin expressed his view on the possibility that the conflicts would continue.
Call for fair reform at the United Nations
Putin said the United Nations now operates in a less cooperative and democratic manner than the collaborative and democratic structure envisioned when it was founded, adding that they support the idea of reforming the organization fairly.

Putin argued that under current conditions, such a change could not be implemented without reaching internal consensus. He said the structure of the United Nations should better reflect the diversity of the world, adding that Asia, Africa and Latin America should assume increasingly important roles in the organization.

Warning about artificial intelligence and digital totalitarianism
Addressing the development of artificial intelligence, Putin said experts were increasingly warning that the spread of this technology could strip people of their individuality and force them into a common mold.
Putin said the development of artificial intelligence could result in “digital totalitarianism.” He said it would be just as deadlocked, dark and anti-human as the totalitarian societies of the past.
