Roger Waters, one of the founders of Pink Floyd, responded in a video message posted on X to Macklemore’s removal from the remaining concerts on Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour.
Speaking about the U.S. rapper, who was removed from the tour because of his support for Palestine, Waters began the video by asking, “Who is Ed?” Among the portraits Waters showed behind him were those of Palestinian artist Bisan Owda, Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, and a woman from Gaza.
Waters said there were two types of people in the world: those who “do the right thing” and those who “do the wrong thing.” Citing Macklemore as an example of someone doing the right thing, Waters placed Sheeran among those doing the wrong thing and used harsh language about the star.

Macklemore’s support for Palestine
The Grammy-winning rapper has publicly expressed his support for Palestine several times since the Israeli attacks on Gaza began in 2023. Following these statements, he was removed from the remaining concerts on Sheeran’s U.S. tour.
Macklemore donated the proceeds from “Hind’s Hall 2,” a song he produced with Palestinian artists in support of Gaza, to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. Israel’s allegations against UNRWA have been described as unfounded.
