The United States allegedly proposed a $5 billion fund to rebuild energy infrastructure in the Gulf.
The proposal aims to help rebuild energy facilities allegedly damaged during the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran and reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz for oil and natural gas shipments.
Talks on the proposal are under way with various Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The United States seeks to establish a $10 billion investment fund by requesting equivalent contributions from eight Middle Eastern countries.
As talks on the fund continue, its terms may change.
