Tottenham have completed the transfer of Dutch international center-back Yan Paul van Heek. The English club announced that they have signed the player from Brighton on a long-term contract.
The 26-year-old defender moved to Brighton from Dutch side NAC Breda in 2020. Van Heek made it into the first team two years after joining the English side.
The Dutch player made a total of 131 appearances for Brighton. He started 36 of 38 Premier League matches last season.
Brighton finished the league in eighth place last season, securing a spot in European competitions. Van Heek stood out as a key part of that performance.
The Dutch player is currently in his country's squad for the 2026 World Cup. Van Heek is in the same team as Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, who played in the opening match against Japan.
This transfer was Tottenham's third move of the summer. The London club had previously agreed deals with Scottish left-back Andy Robertson and Argentine center-back Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth.
