Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said the IMF's Fiscal Transparency Evaluation, which reviews fiscal statistics, budget management, fiscal risks and accountability practices, places Türkiye among the top performers of about 40 countries assessed, a group that includes the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria and Portugal.
In the 2015 evaluation, Türkiye's practices were rated good or advanced on about half of the principles in the IMF's Fiscal Transparency Code. Şimşek said that share has now risen to two-thirds.

He described the result as a concrete outcome of more than 20 years of institutional transformation and said work continues on structural reforms to further increase fiscal transparency.
