Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said he does not fully understand the exponentially accelerating pace of artificial intelligence development.
Amodei said this pace indicated that the industry needed to slow down. However, he also said the situation should not immediately cause panic and that research should not be halted altogether.
Call for cooperation between companies and governments
Amodei said measures capable of keeping pace with advances in artificial intelligence were needed and called on companies to establish common safety standards.
Amodei also said rules should be created to regulate the pace at which AI systems are released onto the market. He called on the industry to work with governments to implement these measures.

Anthropic employee criticizes companies
Jacob Coxon, who had worked as a researcher at OpenAI and Anthropic for the past three years, resigned from Anthropic, which he accused of failing to act responsibly enough in the field of artificial intelligence.
Coxon alleged that the two companies were engaged in an uncontrolled race to develop self-improving AI systems. He claimed that these systems could soon become superhuman entities with broad capabilities and access to resources.
Coxon also alleged that industry employees developing AI models seriously believed these systems could lead to the extinction of humanity within 10 years.
