U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders said that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and billionaire-funded super PACs are preparing to spend tens of millions of dollars to defeat candidate Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race.
Sanders said in a post on X, "As a taxpayer, El-Sayed understands that we should not spend over a trillion dollars on the military and should not provide billions of dollars in support to the genocidal Netanyahu government in Israel."
Sanders also said, "Whether it's AIPAC, artificial intelligence, or crypto, billionaire-funded super PACs will spend unlimited amounts of money to undermine democracy and defeat candidates who stand with working people and challenge their power. We cannot let them succeed."
Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate in the Michigan Senate race, has described Israel's war on Gaza as genocide and criticized U.S. military aid to Israel, arguing that the money should be spent on Americans.
