Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz shared the latest figures on Türkiye’s economy during the opening of the Istanbul Trade Congress, saying the country maintained its growth momentum despite increasing uncertainty in the global economy.

Yılmaz said Türkiye’s economy expanded by 2.3 percent in the second quarter of 2026, extending its uninterrupted growth streak to 24 consecutive quarters.
Addressing geopolitical risks and growing uncertainty in global markets, Yılmaz said Türkiye has continued to distinguish itself through its production capacity and export performance.
According to Yılmaz, Türkiye’s gross domestic product reached $1.6 trillion in 2025, while annualized national income exceeded $1.7 trillion in the first half of 2026.
He also highlighted the expansion in merchandise exports, which increased from $36 billion in 2002 to $273.2 billion in 2025. Annualized merchandise exports surpassed $280 billion as of August 2026.

Türkiye Eyes More Than $405 Billion in Total Exports
Yılmaz said Türkiye’s services exports rose from $14 billion in 2002 to $125 billion in 2025, placing the country 22nd among the world’s largest services exporters.
Türkiye also recorded a $63 billion surplus in services trade, according to Yılmaz. Combined exports of goods and services approached $400 billion in 2025, while total exports are expected to exceed $405 billion in 2026.
Yılmaz said Türkiye would continue efforts to strengthen production, exports and its position in global trade as economic and geopolitical conditions worldwide remain challenging.
