As Typhoon Dolphin weakens, alerts for heavy rain and strong winds remain in effect along China’s eastern coast. The China National Meteorological Center maintained its blue typhoon alert and said strong winds were expected along the eastern coast through Tuesday.
The Beijing Meteorological Observatory also issued an orange alert, forecasting heavy to torrential rain through August 13. Beijing authorities called on residents to stay away from rivers and avoid traveling to mountainous areas.
A red alert was issued in some parts of the capital, Beijing, because of heavy rain, while the risk of flash floods and landslides was reported to be high in mountainous areas.
Hundreds of thousands evacuated in Shanghai and Fujian
