Due to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, the US has imposed new entry restrictions on passengers coming from Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda. In this context, after a passenger from Congo mistakenly boarded an Air France plane bound for Detroit, the plane was diverted to Montreal at the request of US authorities. US Customs and Border Protection officials stated that the passenger should not have boarded the plane to reduce the risk of the Ebola virus. Under the new regulation, passengers from these three countries will only be allowed to land at Washington-Dulles International Airport in Virginia. According to data from the World Health Organization, there are more than 139 suspected deaths and over 600 cases due to the outbreak. The vaccine developed against the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola is not yet ready for human trials and its effectiveness is not certain.
