Flights at Luxembourg Airport were temporarily suspended after reports that drone activity had been observed in the surrounding area. Aircraft expected to arrive at the airport after 9:45 p.m. local time were diverted to other airports, while two scheduled departures could not take place.
Flight operations resumed shortly after midnight. Aircraft began landing at Luxembourg Airport at around 12:30 a.m. local time.

More than 1,800 passengers affected
Luxair announced that more than 1,800 passengers were affected by the diversions and delays. During the interruption to operations at the airport, 17 of the company's flights were sent to other airports.
Two flights operated by KLM and Air Dolomiti turned back before reaching Luxembourg. Departures by other airlines were also disrupted.
The Luxembourg government announced that an interagency committee on drone incidents would convene following the incident.

Similar disruptions at European airports
Sightings of unidentified drones around European airports and military facilities have recently caused disruptions to air traffic and raised security concerns. Officials have linked some incidents to "hybrid warfare" activities.
After a drone was spotted near Brussels Airport on September 11, runway operations were suspended for approximately 30 minutes. Drones were also spotted around Brussels and Liege airports and several military bases in Belgium in November 2025; flights were temporarily suspended, while some services were canceled or diverted to other airports.
Similar incidents at airports in Copenhagen, Oslo, Munich and Berlin also led to the temporary suspension of flights.
