U.S. President Trump announced that they had reached an agreement with Denmark on Greenland. The arrangement announced by Trump provides for the United States to secure permanent control over its security needs in Greenland.
Trump said the agreement would not cost the United States anything. He also stated that Washington would be allowed to maintain any type of military presence in Greenland.
Trump said that, without written U.S. approval, no actor opposed to the United States would be able to establish a base, maintain a military presence or make sensitive investments in Greenland.
Trump said the agreement was open-ended and announced that the process of establishing a broad military presence in suitable areas of Greenland would begin immediately.
