Heavy rainfall in two Bulgarian provinces caused rivers to overflow, flooding residential areas and inundating buildings.
A state of emergency was declared in the Municipality of Strumyani in Blagoevgrad Province because of the flooding. Chief Commissioner Aleksandar Dzhartov, director of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection, said the Shashka and Zlinska rivers had overflowed following the rainfall.
Seven people were evacuated from areas affected by the flooding. Dzhartov said some settlements experienced power and water cuts and that the railway line was also damaged.
