Former Colombian President Gustavo Petro criticized the activities of an Israeli search-and-rescue team following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, saying the team did not take part in rubble-clearing efforts.
In a post on the X platform, Petro alleged that the Israeli team arrived in the country four days after the earthquake and left the area without taking part in search-and-rescue operations.

Petro said authorities had asked the team to remain in the disaster zone while voices could still be heard under the rubble. He said Israeli soldiers arrived at the Vanessa building in Cali, where his colleague Catalina Ortiz was located, but did not dig through the rubble.

82-member team arrived in Cali on August 14
Eighty-two members of search-and-rescue teams from the Israeli Air Force traveled to Cali, one of the cities hardest hit by the earthquake, on August 14.
Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella also thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call for sending a search-and-rescue team four days after the earthquake.
