In Ukraine, a person identified as a deserter detonated a grenade during a police check. According to a statement from the National Police of Ukraine, the incident occurred in the Podolsk district of the Odesa region, wounding two police officers and the attacker.
Police teams stopped a moped driver who violated traffic rules. The identity check revealed that the 52-year-old driver had the status of 'absent without leave' from his unit. The individual then pulled out a grenade, made threats, and shortly after, an explosion occurred.
The investigation team dispatched to the scene is continuing its work.
Ukrainian police had announced a similar incident in the Dnipropetrovsk region last Thursday. A grenade detonated during an identity check under mobilization wounded a military enlistment office employee, a police officer, and the attacker.
There are many videos on the internet regarding forced conscription processes in Ukraine. These images show military enlistment office officials loading men into vans and often beating detainees. Men of conscription age, meanwhile, try to evade military service by fleeing the country illegally, setting fire to enlistment offices, or hiding.
