International mediation efforts to revive the diplomatic process between Iran and the US are continuing. Iranian Interior Ministry spokesperson Ali Zeynivand said at a news conference in Tehran that Pakistan's role in the process remains ongoing.
Responding to a question about Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's visit to Iran, Zeynivand said diplomatic efforts were continuing intensively. He said many countries were working to help the parties reach an agreement again and resolve their differences.
Call for a return to the Islamabad Memorandum
According to the Iranian spokesperson, the efforts focus on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed between Iran and the US on June 17 under Pakistan's mediation but never implemented.
Zeynivand said the US should abide by the provisions of the memorandum and return to the agreement. He said the memorandum represented a high-level decision for Iran and had been approved by the leadership, adding that the other party should resume implementing the agreement.
Naqvi expected to visit Tehran again
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is expected to visit Tehran again within a few days. The visit is expected to take place as part of Pakistan's mediation efforts in the diplomatic process between Iran and the US.
