Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a written statement regarding the new US attacks carried out early Sunday. The statement said the attacks constitute a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force.
The ministry also emphasized that the attacks directly violate Article 1 of the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war. The statement said, "These savage attacks show that the American regime attaches no value or credibility to its commitments and that breaking its oath is part of the nature of this regime."
Iran's Foreign Ministry reminded the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General of their responsibilities regarding international peace and security. The statement underlined Iran's determination to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The statement came after a night operation in which Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck eight US military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain as retaliation, and after the Revolutionary Guard Navy warned that US bases "will experience hell these days." The Revolutionary Guard had previously warned that ceasefire violations would halt the entire diplomatic process.
