In New Jersey, 25-year-old Victoria Anne Cranmer was arrested for sexually assaulting a child and recording and sharing the crime on social media. Cranmer faces charges of sexual assault of a child under 13, production and possession of child abuse material, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The incident took place on May 6 in the bathroom of a home in Little Egg Harbor. According to the allegation, Cranmer recorded the assault on a child under her care in a 14-second video. Authorities said the suspect was identified by several distinctive tattoos visible in the video, including a tattoo on her legs depicting a chest.
The investigation began when the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency reported the situation to the Little Egg Harbor Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit on May 20. Detectives obtained a search warrant for a cell phone and Snapchat account that Cranmer allegedly used. During the examination of the phone, additional videos saved in Snapchat's 'Memories' feature were found.
According to an affidavit, the cell phone in question had been bought for Cranmer as a birthday gift by a former roommate. The roommate asked Cranmer to move out and demanded the phone back. While examining the phone, the roommate discovered the recording, saved the video, and turned the device over to investigators.
According to court documents, Cranmer is also alleged to have laughed while assaulting the child in the video. At least one recording was also shared on Snapchat.
Cranmer was placed in Ocean County Jail and was not released on bail. The prosecutor's office has not yet released additional information on whether the suspect has legal representation.
