U.S. President Donald Trump said Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelenskyy could soon reach an agreement to end the Ukraine conflict. Speaking to reporters at the White House in Washington on Sept. 26, Trump said such an agreement could be reached before the onset of a harsh winter.
Trump did not specify which year's winter he was referring to. The U.S. president also provided no details on what conditions could pave the way for an agreement.

Putin says he is ready for negotiations
Vladimir Putin said the previous day that Russia was ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine after the State Duma elections. Putin claimed that the Kyiv administration had launched an intense attack attempt against Moscow during the voting days.
The Russian president said decisions on the negotiations would be made in line with Russia's interests. Putin had also previously said that Zelenskyy could come to Moscow if he was ready for dialogue.
Trump called on Zelenskyy this week to travel to Moscow to restart peace talks, while Zelenskyy rejected the call.
