US President Donald Trump made statements about talks with the new UK government during a press conference in the Oval Office.
Referring to his meeting with UK Prime Minister Burnham, Trump said Burnham promised to open the North Sea for oil exploration. The US President said, "He said something very good. He said he would open up the oil resources in the North Sea.
If he does that, you will become a rich country," he added.
Trump noted that he repeatedly called on former UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to do the same, but Starmer did not take that step.
