US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning about the future of negotiations with Iran in an interview with Israel's Channel 12 television. Trump said he ordered a halt to attacks on Iran to give diplomacy another chance, adding, "If it doesn't work, we will return to very powerful military actions."
Trump said mediating countries had asked him for a ceasefire, stating, "Everyone involved with Iran told me, 'Don't shoot.'" When asked how long he would give diplomacy, he replied, "Not much time. It either moves fast or it doesn't move at all."
Trump also touched on his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. "I will talk with Bibi (Netanyahu) about the fact that if I weren't president, Iran would now have nuclear weapons and Israel would be destroyed," he said.
Meanwhile, on July 24, a delegation from Oman traveled to Tehran to discuss a mechanism for managing ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The Tehran administration announced that progress had been made in the negotiations but that an agreement had not yet been reached.
