Turkey's crypto asset market is gaining transparency at international standards with the new application of the Central Securities Depository (MKK). MKK has started disclosing the market data it collects through the Crypto Asset Central Registry System (KVMKS) on the 'MKK Market Data' screen on its website every day.
With this step, transaction, balance, portfolio, and investor information on crypto platforms is recorded under MKK assurance, while the infrastructure enabling detailed analysis has also been put into operation.
Data will be updated daily
MKK will update the market data obtained from KVMKS every day after market close and make it available to investors. The institution plans to share much more detailed data through the MKK Data Analysis Platform (VAP) in the coming period.
MKK General Manager and Board Member Ekrem Arıkan said that thanks to KVMKS, information on crypto assets not subject to the central registry system has been recorded since last year.
As MKK, in line with the responsibility we have undertaken with our role as a Data Storage Institution and the public interest we uphold, we have started making the said data available to all market participants within the framework of the transparency principle. Thus, we will ensure that the much-anticipated developments in the crypto markets are followed under MKK assurance.
5.6 million investors traded
According to MKK data, as of July 15, 53 crypto asset service providers completed the membership process. While the number of investors who have traded on the platforms to date was recorded as approximately 5.6 million, the number of new investors who received a registration number from MKK for the first time was 797,696.
Previously, the number of investors registered with MKK was around 4.8 million. Approximately 3.2 million of those investing in crypto assets are still investors with balances.
While approximately 1,500 different crypto assets are held in investor accounts, their current market value was calculated as 140 billion 760 million lira. MKK announced that this data will be automatically updated and shared with investors every day after market close.
