Turkey made a strong start to 2026 in the health tourism sector. Mustafa Arıoğut, a Board Member of the Service Exporters' Association and Chairman of the Health Services Committee, announced that the number of tourists arriving for treatment in the January-March period reached 302,487. The revenue generated in this period was recorded as $761.523 million.
Arıoğut stated that the sector maintains its steady growth trend and also shared data for the full year 2025. Last year, the number of visitors coming to Turkey for treatment was 1,398,580, while health tourism revenues rose to $3,022,452,000.
Patients from 180 countries are treated
Turkey serves patients from approximately 180 different countries with its geographical location and advanced health infrastructure. The highest demand in the sector comes from Germany, the United Kingdom, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Russia, Libya, and the Gulf countries. While the average per capita health expenditure stands at $2,500, this figure can rise to between $10,000 and $50,000 in complex cases such as tumor treatment, cardiac surgery, robotic surgery, and organ transplantation.
Arıoğut stated that efforts supporting sustainable growth are ongoing and year-end expectations are positive. He added that these data reflect Turkey's advanced position in providing high-value healthcare services on a global scale.
