Prof. Dr. Canan Dağdeviren was included in Worth’s 2026 Groundbreaking Women selection for her academic work at the MIT Media Lab. The list, which features women from science, technology, business, health, media and culture, also includes SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell, AMD President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su, Anthropic President Daniela Amodei, Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana, musician Dua Lipa and actor Emma Stone.
According to Worth’s official description, Dağdeviren is an associate professor at the MIT Media Lab. Her research focuses on devices compatible with the human body and flexible technologies that help monitor and analyze health data. Within this scope, compatible devices are used to examine movement, pressure, sound, electrical activity and biochemical changes in the body.
Wearable health technologies, body-integrated devices and medical technologies aimed at early diagnosis are among the main areas of Dağdeviren’s academic work. She founded and leads the Conformable Decoders group at the MIT Media Lab. She also leads research and technology development focused on women’s health through the WHx Women’s Health Program.
Dağdeviren’s tenure at the MIT Media Lab was finalized as of July 1, 2026. This development enabled her to continue her academic activities and research leadership in health technologies at the same institution.
Worth’s 2026 Groundbreaking Women event was held in New York on September 15, 2026. Dağdeviren was among the speakers at the “Mothers of Invention” session on women’s health and medical technology. The event brought her work to an international audience beyond academic circles, in the context of technology, business and women’s leadership.
Dağdeviren’s inclusion in Worth’s selection placed a scientist with ties to Türkiye on the same international platform as influential women in the global technology and health sectors. In June 2026, she received the Global Women Leadership Award at the Global Summit of Women held in Istanbul. Her international visibility in science, women’s health and engineering continued throughout 2026 with her inclusion on the Worth list.
