US Central Command spokesperson Navy Commander Tim Hawkins stated that the attacks on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz were carried out for self-defense purposes. The attacks took place in the Bandar Abbas region in southern Iran and targeted boats attempting to lay mines as well as missile launch sites. During the ongoing temporary ceasefire, the US emphasized that while protecting its forces, it continues to act with restraint. Semi-official Iranian media sources reported hearing explosions in Bandar Abbas and its surroundings, but Mehr news agency conveyed that the situation is under control and there is nothing to worry about. While talks to end the war between Iran and the US continue, US President Donald Trump reiterated the demand for the removal of enriched uranium in Iran. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the US blockade of Iranian ports caused an increase in global fuel prices.
