Chicago White Sox announced that one of the team's key players, Munetaka Murakami, will be unable to play for at least a few weeks due to injury. Murakami injured his hamstring muscle while running in the third inning of the game against the Detroit Tigers and was therefore placed on the injury list. Team manager Will Venable stated that Murakami has a Grade 2 hamstring injury and the recovery process will take four to six weeks. Murakami drew attention in 2022 by hitting 56 home runs for the Yakult Swallows team in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball League. After joining the White Sox, the player, who made a big breakthrough, has become one of the key names of the team so far with 20 home runs, 44 walks, and 80 strikeouts. In the absence of Murakami, who also affects the overall performance of the team, Jacob Gonzalez, who leads with 19 home runs and 62 RBIs in the Triple-A Charlotte team, was called up to the team. Venable praised Gonzalez's recent performance and expressed their belief that he will contribute to the team. Murakami said that it is unfortunate that the injury occurred at this time of the season but that he will continue to support the team.
