On Brickell Avenue, an attempt to flee after taking two bracelets was stopped when a 17-year-old who witnessed the incident intervened. Police say 21-year-old Yagiz Dogan approached a woman in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood and said he wanted to buy the bracelets.
The woman handed the bracelets to Dogan for inspection. Dogan allegedly took them and began to run. The 17-year-old chased the suspect, caught him shortly afterward and struggled with him.
According to the police report, Dogan sprayed the teenager with pepper spray during the struggle. Despite this, the teenager brought the suspect to the ground and prevented him from escaping until officers arrived. Police officers who reached the scene detained Dogan.
The two bracelets, identified as belonging to the woman, were found in Dogan’s bag and returned to their owner. NBC 6 South Florida reported that police are also investigating Dogan’s possible connection to another incident carried out using a similar method in the Brickell neighborhood.
