US President Donald Trump responded to criticism of his immigration policy at an event in Las Vegas and defended his policies.
Trump claimed that he stopped irregular migrant entry within the first 30 days of taking office. "I stopped millions and millions of people from invading our country. Our country was being invaded. 25 million people were coming into our country from our southern border," he said.
Claiming that not a single irregular migrant had entered the country in the last 15 months, Trump said they were working to eliminate the "scourge of migrant crime."
Referring to events in Spain last week, Trump said, "You saw what happened in Spain, more than 60,000 migrants stormed the border, they occupied a town, attacked innocent citizens and looted the streets. This is what the communists want for America."
Defending the detention and deportation operations of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Trump said, "We will always stand with our law enforcement."
