In Washington, the capital of the USA, an armed attack occurred near the White House on Saturday evening. Authorities announced that the suspect was killed in a clash with security forces. According to CBS, the attacker was a 21-year-old named Nasire Best, who was previously known to security units and had a history of mental health issues. One civilian was also injured in the incident, but no information has been provided about their condition yet. It was reported that no security personnel were injured. The attack took place just outside the White House, at the intersection of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Authorities stated that the attacker drew a weapon from his bag and fired approximately 10-20 shots. Security forces returned fire, hitting the attacker, who was reported to have died in the hospital. Roads in the area were closed after the incident, and investigations are ongoing. It was noted that then-President Donald Trump, who was at the White House at the time of the attack, was informed but had not yet made a statement. Journalists present in the area during the incident were taken to the press briefing room by security personnel upon hearing gunshots and were held there for about 30 minutes. The attack occurred about a month after a similar armed attack at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
