Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said Americans no longer hear the phrase “climate change” as often as they did a few years ago, arguing the movement behind it has lost its footing.
“You don’t hear the word climate change as much as you did two years ago because that whole thing, the legs have been knocked out from under that movement,” Burgum said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
“Attacking people that are building big things”

Burgum said the same groups are now “shifting a lot of that resource to try to stop building things by going and attacking people that are building big things,” pointing to opposition to the data centers and power plants behind the Trump administration’s artificial intelligence push.
Burgum has repeatedly argued that local backlash against data centers is not organic. Earlier this year he called the energy transition a “fantasy” and said losing the AI race would be a bigger threat than climate change.
