A Delta Air Lines plane and an Air Canada aircraft collided on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday morning. No injuries were reported.
The Delta flight was departing for Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, while the Air Canada plane had just arrived from Toronto. A winglet from the Delta aircraft became lodged in the Air Canada plane’s horizontal stabilizer.

275 passengers on board the Delta jet
The Delta plane was carrying 275 passengers and 15 crew members. It was not immediately clear how many people were aboard the Air Canada aircraft. Both planes were taken out of service, and operations at LAX continued as normal.

“While taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport, a Delta aircraft made contact with an Air Canada aircraft. Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience and delay in their travels,” Delta said in a statement.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the incident.
