The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projected that natural gas stocks in the country will reach 3.985 trillion cubic feet in October. This is expected to be the highest stock level recorded before the heating season since 2016.
The increase in stocks was attributed to higher natural gas production. Lower demand due to maintenance work at liquefied natural gas facilities was also cited as a factor in the rise.
EIA estimated that the average price of Henry Hub natural gas in the third quarter of 2026 will be $2.87. This estimate is 50 cents below the previous forecast.
U.S. liquefied natural gas exports are expected to reach 16.5 billion cubic feet per day during the same period. EIA projects that the increase in exports will continue in 2027.
