Forbes Travel Guide has compiled the world's most notable hotel bars in its second edition of the Hotel Star Bars list. The selection covers 37 bars across 18 countries, with 13 located in Europe.
The list was created following visits by anonymous inspectors. The evaluation focused on the drink program, service quality, and overall guest experience.
Standout Venues from Europe
Among Europe's highlights are Le Bar Américain and Le Bar Botaniste, both selected for the second consecutive year. Le Bar Américain is located in Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo; its proximity to the Monaco Grand Prix circuit boosted its visibility this week.
Forbes Travel Guide recommends trying the La Roseraie cocktail at Le Bar Américain. Dedicated to Grace Kelly, this drink is complemented by the Bellini, served only during peach season from June to August.
Le Bar Botaniste inside Shangri-La Paris is noted for its Caesar 52 cocktail, mini truffle croque-monsieur, and caviar chicken nuggets. The venue re-entered the list with its signature cocktails.
France is also represented by two new bars in the 2026 selection. Abysse Bar at Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa in Champillon stands out with its sparkling wine-based cocktails; Martinez Bar inside Hôtel Martinez in Cannes also made the list.
Two bars from London were selected. Claridge’s Bar features the dry martini as a standout drink, while The Northall Bar at Corinthia London offers a crystal chandelier cocktail inspired by the hotel lobby’s chandelier, described as a light and refreshing drink.
Scotland’s capital matched London with two bars. Bar Prince at The Balmoral made the list with its Connected Icons menu inspired by people and places linked to the hotel. The Wallace at 100 Princes Street is open only to guests who receive whisky recommendations from the whisky ambassador.
In Italy, the Lounge Bar at Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti stood out for its use of local ingredients and alpine liqueurs featuring apple blossom aromas. Rome’s Tiepolo Lounge & Terrace attracted attention with its Art Collection menu inspired by famous creative figures.
The Prince of Wales Bar at Ashford Castle in Ireland is named after the future King George V. The recommended drink is the three-ingredient Last High King cocktail, named in reference to Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair, who united the three Irish kingdoms.
At the Vault Bar inside Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, creative presentation stood out. Details such as lock-stamped ice cubes and golden skeleton keys used as stirrers caught the inspectors’ attention.
Greece’s Alelia Bar at One&Only Aesthesis also made the list. Located in Glyfada, the bar is considered a must-visit for its views overlooking the Athens Riviera.
