At the trial that began at the Paris Criminal Court, prosecutors sought a four-year prison sentence for France’s former Culture Minister Dati. They requested that two years of the sentence be served under electronic monitoring.
Prosecutors also requested a €450,000 fine and the confiscation of assets worth €900,000. They sought to bar the former minister from standing in elections and holding public office for five years.
The investigation into Dati was opened in 2019 over allegations that she received payments from the Renault-Nissan Group and carried out lobbying activities while serving as a member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2019. The former minister is standing trial on corruption and influence peddling charges.
