Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended the 30th MIKTA Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting brought together the foreign ministers of MIKTA members Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye and Australia. Australia chaired the gathering, while Fidan represented Türkiye.

During the meeting, the five countries adopted a renewed MIKTA Vision document designed to guide the group’s cooperation in the coming period. The document highlights strengthening the multilateral system, advancing sustainable development, addressing climate change and supporting a rules-based international trading system.
The ministers also agreed on a joint statement concerning misinformation, disinformation and harmful narratives targeting humanitarian personnel. The initiative emphasizes protecting humanitarian workers operating in crisis environments and addressing information threats that can undermine humanitarian operations.

MIKTA reaffirms support for multilateral cooperation
The renewed Vision document highlights the pressures facing the international system, including geopolitical tensions, strategic competition, armed conflicts and prolonged humanitarian crises.
MIKTA members emphasized the importance of respect for sovereignty and international law, while reaffirming their commitment to international cooperation in addressing global challenges.
Established in 2013, MIKTA is an informal consultation and coordination platform bringing together Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye and Australia. The 30th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New York marked another high-level engagement between the five countries during UN General Assembly week.
