The lawsuit against Halkbank in the US has been completely dismissed with the approval of the Southern District Court of New York, ending a legal process that lasted 9 years.
The case was initiated in 2019 on allegations that US sanctions against Iran were circumvented through Halkbank. Throughout the process, various legal steps were taken between the bank and the US Department of Justice Southern District Prosecutor's Office.
On June 10, 2026, the parties submitted a joint petition, and under the Deferred Prosecution Agreement signed in March 2026, it was reported that the bank did not admit to any wrongdoing nor paid any fines.
Following the court decision, Halkbank shares rose, gaining over 4% to reach 51 Turkish lira.
