Heavy rains that hit the US state of New Jersey caused widespread flooding in the Asbury Park area. While 3.45 inches of rain fell in three hours, Lake Wesley overflowed, submerging Lake Avenue and surrounding businesses.
While many roads across Monmouth County were closed to traffic, numerous water rescue operations were conducted in the area. Many vehicles and businesses along Lake Avenue were damaged by the flood.

The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office urged drivers to avoid travel due to severe flooding on Route 35. Additionally, the roof of a BJ's Wholesale Club in Ocean Township partially collapsed, trapping some people inside.
Asbury Park Fire Department spokesperson Garret Giberson said they had seen the most intense short-duration rainfall in 12 years. City officials are considering measures such as dredging, levee renewal, and culvert upgrades to reduce flood risk.
Lake Wesley similarly overflowed in 2023, affecting businesses on Lake Avenue. Asbury Park has been carrying out hazard mitigation projects as part of flood reduction plans since Hurricanes Irene and Sandy.
