The Israeli army announced that one of its soldiers was killed and seven others were wounded in southern Lebanon. According to the army's brief statement, 29-year-old Sergeant Major Alexander Filin lost his life in the clash.
The statement noted that one officer, one reserve officer, and one reserve soldier were moderately injured. Additionally, one combat sergeant, two reserve soldiers, and one female reserve soldier sustained minor injuries.
Drone Attack in Lebanon
Lebanon's official news agency reported that a drone attack on a vehicle in the southern Kfar Tebnit area killed one person and seriously injured another.
The attack came following an agreement aimed at ending the war between the US and Iran. The deal signed by Washington and Tehran on Wednesday is intended to halt fighting on the front lines.
Nevertheless, Israel's efforts to maintain its presence in Lebanon and the impact of this presence on the course of the war have emerged as a new source of tension in the region.
Casualties of the Conflict
Lebanon was drawn into the conflict after the Iran-backed Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel on March 2 in support of Iran. Since then, thousands have died in Israeli attacks, with a fragile ceasefire in place but attacks on the ground continuing.
Lebanese authorities report that over 3,800 people have died due to Israel's extensive airstrikes and ground operations. The Israeli side states that since the start of the ground operation in Lebanon, 31 soldiers and one civilian contractor have been killed.
The Beirut administration says more than 10,000 people have been injured in the attacks and over one million displaced within the country.
The United Nations has reiterated calls to stop the attacks in Lebanon, highlighting a deepening humanitarian crisis in a country already suffering from years of economic contraction and energy and telecommunications shortages.
