Jacob Anderson said he enjoyed portraying the "tougher" and more playful side of Louis de Pointe du Lac in the new season of The Vampire Lestat.
In the first two seasons of Interview with the Vampire, the turbulent relationship between Louis and Lestat was told from Louis’ perspective. In the third season, the narrative shifts to Lestat’s point of view following their reconciliation and the bestselling book about their relationship by Daniel Molloy.
Anderson noted that this change also affected how he played the character. According to him, the same character takes on a slightly different tone each season depending on whose perspective the story is told from.
Louis’ New Tone
Anderson explained that Lestat portrays Louis with more affection this season, highlighting aspects of Louis that have rarely been seen on screen before. The actor said that Louis previously saw himself as someone withdrawn, repressed, and consumed by anger.
In the new season, this perception is broken, revealing a more cheerful, witty, and tougher side of Louis. Anderson expressed that playing this side was enjoyable.
Anderson also mentioned that Sam Reid views Louis with a "tougher" tone, adding a new layer to the character.
What to Expect in the New Season
The new season is expected to focus on Lestat and Louis coming together again, especially through their shared grief over losing Claudia. Although their shared scenes are limited in the first episode, the relationship is said to be explored more deeply as the season progresses.
The season will also feature Sheila Atim as Akasha from Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned universe. The new episodes air Sundays on AMC.
