Colin Farrell announced that his character Oz Cobb, also known as Penguin, will have a very limited presence in The Batman: Part II. The actor said he appears in only two scenes in the sequel.
Farrell said this was good for him as it allowed him to follow the rest of the film as a viewer. He also praised Matt Reeves' screenplay, describing the production as having a strong narrative.
Although the Penguin character had a brief appearance in the first The Batman film, it was one of the standout supporting roles. Farrell's performance created a more defined and tough criminal figure within the film's dark tone.
The actor explained that the HBO series The Penguin centers the character and establishes a different balance. According to him, giving the character too much prominence can sometimes overshadow the story's weight.
Farrell also said the new film has a psychologically deep, dark, and at times frightening atmosphere. While the emotional aspect of the film is strong, he reminded that Batman stories are fundamentally about a hero fighting exaggerated villains.
The Batman: Part II is set to be released in theaters on October 1, 2027.
