Jarvis Cocker, lead singer of Pulp, will co-curate an exhibition next year at Hepworth Wakefield in West Yorkshire alongside his wife and creative consultant Kim Sion.
The exhibition, titled The Hodge Podge, is planned as an eclectic selection aiming to create unexpected encounters between different artists. It intends to place names such as Jeremy Deller, Peter Doig, Barbara Hepworth, and Klara Kristalova side by side for reflection.
Cocker and Sion have also prepared a manifesto for the exhibition. This text highlights the meaning of the term "hodge podge" and points to its origins dating back to the 15th century.
The exhibition will conclude with a section called Dreamachine, described as a device illustrating the idea that the mind produces art unconsciously.
Jarvis Cocker's background in art school is also notable. He studied at Saint Martin’s art school in London, and this new project brings his connection to the art world back into focus.
The exhibition will be open to visitors at Hepworth Wakefield from May 21 to October 31, 2027.
