Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said he received calls from two separate institutions about the death of US Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.
Democratic Governor Beshear said in an interview with Katie Couric, 'Actually, I received calls from two different institutions that are not state agencies implying he had died.' The interview was published on YouTube.
The governor did not disclose which institutions called him or when the calls took place.
McConnell was hospitalized in June after a fall and received treatment for about a month. The senator's office said in a statement on July 12 that McConnell did not suffer a fracture, concussion, heart attack, stroke, tumor or hemorrhage.
Emergency radio recordings from the day he was hospitalized on June 14 showed that McConnell was unconscious and may have suffered a heart attack.
McConnell's doctor said the senator developed pneumonia in the hospital but responded quickly to antibiotic treatment. Although McConnell said he planned to return to the Senate, his office did not give a date for this.
Beshear had previously called for more public information about the senator's health condition in social media posts and in a letter to McConnell.
